Dirk Wucherpfennig, (b. 1969) studied percussion and piano at the University of Music and Theater in his hometown of Hamburg. At the age of 23, he began his professional career as percussionist in the prestigious Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin. Dirk was a founding member of the world renown Lucerne Festival Orchestra when it was re-launched by Claudio Abbado in 2003. <\/span><\/p>\\n

Dirk has gained an extensive 30-year professional experience, successfully performing with: Berliner Philharmoniker, Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Staatskapelle Berlin, Deutsches Sinfonieorchester, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, to name a few. He has worked with famous conductors: Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Riccardo Muti, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Andriss Nelsons, Teodore Currentzis, Mariss Jansons, Kent Nagano, Christian Thielemann, Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin, Valery Gergiev, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Mstislaw Rostropowitsch, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Georg Solti, Lorin Maazel, Pierre Boulez, Kurt Sanderling, G\u00fcnther Wand, Sir Eliot Gardiner, Daniel Harding and many others. <\/span><\/p>\\n

Dirk launched his conducting career with private studies with Prof. Gunter Kahlert (Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar) and Prof. Manfred Fabricius (Hanns Eisler University of Music Berlin), before studying conducting at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden under Prof. Steffen Lei\u00dfner, which he completed with a Masters Degree. Master classes with Jorma Panula, David Robertson and Bernard Haitink enhanced and elevated his fine conducting skills. <\/span><\/p>\\n

He has worked across Asia, where he also dedicates himself to contemporary music at various festivals. For example, he conducted the performance of Edgard Vare\u0300se's work \\\"Ionisation\\\" at the Singapore Percussion Ensemble Festival. Dirk has also been invited as a guest conductor with the NUS Symphony Orchestra Singapore and the Kunming Nie \u0301Er Symphony Orchestra in China, among others. Recently he has been invited for giving masterclasses at the renowned Silpakorn Music University Bangkok.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\\n

He has worked across Asia, where he also dedicates himself to contemporary music at various festivals. For example, he conducted the performance of Edgard Vare\u0300se's work \\\"Ionisation\\\" at the Singapore Percussion Ensemble Festival. Dirk has also been invited as a guest conductor with the NUS Symphony Orchestra Singapore and the Kunming Nie \u0301Er Symphony Orchestra in China, among others. Recently he has been invited for giving masterclasses at the renowned Silpakorn Music University Bangkok.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\\n
